Outripple ("Outripple", "we", "us", or "our") is a software platform that helps founders create and publish content on LinkedIn. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
This policy applies to outripple.com, our web application at app.outripple.com, and the Outripple Chrome extension (collectively, the "Service").
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at privacy@outripple.com.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you provide
When you create an Outripple account, we collect your name, email address, password (stored as a hash), and any profile details you choose to add such as your company, role, and audience description.
1.2 Information from LinkedIn
When you connect your LinkedIn account to Outripple, you authorize us through LinkedIn's official OAuth 2.0 flow. We use the LinkedIn Marketing Developer Platform and Community Management API. With your explicit consent, we receive and store:
- Your LinkedIn member ID and basic profile information (name, headline, profile photo URL).
- An OAuth access token and refresh token, used to publish posts on your behalf via the LinkedIn API.
- Posts you have authored on LinkedIn (when you provide them, or once we have approved API access to read them), used to learn your voice and inform Outripple's voice profile for you.
- Performance data on your own posts (impressions, reactions, comments, shares) when made available to us by LinkedIn, used to compute analytics within the Service.
We do not collect your LinkedIn password. We do not read or store your LinkedIn direct messages. We do not access your connections or follower list beyond what LinkedIn explicitly returns through approved API endpoints.
1.3 Content you create
Outripple stores the post drafts, scheduled posts, and published posts you create using the Service, along with associated metadata such as scheduled publication time, target objective, and your edits.
1.4 Information from the Outripple Chrome extension
If you install the Outripple Chrome extension, the extension reads page content on linkedin.com pages you visit, only when you actively use Outripple features. Specifically, the extension may:
- Read the text and engagement metrics of LinkedIn posts you have authored, to support voice training and analytics.
- Read the text of LinkedIn posts you explicitly save to your Outripple account by clicking the "Save to Outripple" button.
- Read the text of the LinkedIn composer when you ask Outripple to score your hook or rewrite a draft.
- Send your scheduled post content to LinkedIn via the official LinkedIn composer when scheduled, or via the LinkedIn Posts API when you have authorized API publishing.
The extension does not automatically like, comment on, follow, or message anyone on your behalf. The extension does not transmit data from any website other than linkedin.com.
1.5 Usage data
We collect technical information about your use of the Service, including IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, features used, and timestamps. We use this for security, troubleshooting, and product improvement.
1.6 Cookies and similar technologies
We use first-party cookies for authentication and session management. We use minimal analytics cookies to understand product usage. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser, though this may impair the functionality of the Service.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Generate, score, and publish posts on your behalf, in line with the actions you take in the Service.
- Train an Outripple voice profile that is unique to your account, used only to generate content for you.
- Send you transactional emails (account confirmations, password resets, billing receipts).
- Send you product updates, only if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Analyze aggregated, anonymized usage to improve features and reliability.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your content or LinkedIn data to train general-purpose AI models for third parties.
3. Who we share your information with
We share your information only with the parties listed below, and only as necessary to operate the Service:
3.1 LinkedIn
When you publish, schedule, or read a post through the LinkedIn API, we transmit the relevant content to LinkedIn. LinkedIn's use of your data is governed by LinkedIn's privacy policy.
3.2 Service providers
We use a small number of vetted third-party service providers under data processing agreements:
- Cloud hosting — to host the Service infrastructure.
- AI providers — to power voice training and post generation. Content sent to AI providers is sent under enterprise no-training agreements: it is not used to train their general models.
- Email providers — for transactional and opt-in product emails.
- Payment processors — to process subscriptions. We do not store card details on our servers.
- Analytics providers — to understand product usage in aggregate.
3.3 Legal and safety
We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or court order, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety, or property of Outripple, our users, or the public.
3.4 Business transfers
If Outripple is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before that happens and you will have the opportunity to delete your account.
4. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.
- Account data: kept until you delete your account, then deleted within 30 days.
- LinkedIn OAuth tokens: kept only while your LinkedIn connection is active. Revoked tokens are deleted within 24 hours.
- Voice training data: kept while your account is active and used only to generate content for you. Deleted with your account.

- Encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
- OAuth tokens stored encrypted, with rotation on suspicious activity.
- Role-based access controls inside Outripple, with audit logging.
- Regular security reviews and dependency scanning.
No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at security@outripple.com.
7. International data transfers
Outripple operates globally. Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than the one you live in. Where required by law, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your information when it is transferred internationally.
8. Children
Outripple is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us and we will delete it.
9. LinkedIn-specific terms
